Letter from Rafiq, Sk. Nazma, Robina, and Maksuda
Dear Charlie, Barbara and other friends at the NLC,
We wanted you to know that we arrived home safely on Thursday morning, November 04, at 6.30am. One possible fear of being detained and interrogated after our return did not happen, for which we are very thankful.
Please tell all our new friends in the US that for us the trip was amazing. We saw so many remarkable things, like trees changing colors and the discipline of the drivers in New York.Among many other things what impressed us the most was how many people listened to us so seriously. Many of the students were emotional. We are filled with hope that we can work together.
For Robina, Maksuda, Sk. Nazma and myself, we would like to say that we will never forget the new friends we met in the US and we hope they will never forget the 1.8 million garment workers of Bangladesh.
Yes, we need these jobs and we definitely do not want a boycott. That would be the worst thing to do. But we want that our worker rights be respected. We want the companies to treat us like the human beings. That is the solidarity we seek.
Thanks,
Rafiq for
Robina, Maksuda, Sk. Nazma and myself
